Highlands Wrestling Club, Winter 2024-25

The Highlands Wrestling Club (HWC) is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization that was started in 2017 for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes of fostering national and international amateur athletic competition with an emphasis on wrestling. The HWC’s goals are to:

*Engage the youth and parents of our Ft. Thomas community in the sport of wrestling

*Provide opportunities for growth of the body, mind, and spirit though character development and discipline associated with wrestling

*Cultivate lifelong friendships and a love for the sport of wresting

*The HWC is co-ed & offers 2 team opportunities: Youth HWC & Middle School HWC

The Youth HWC team:

- Grades: K - 5th grade

- Season Length: Oct 28th– Feb 10^th,

- Practice Location: Spatola Wrestling at 90 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas KY 41075

- Practice times: Beginner for ages 4-9 Mondays 5:30-630 and & a 2nd beginner class starting Nov 15th on Fridays 6-7pm** Beginners at ages 4-9 need to attend these Fridays and Monday options

Non-Beginners Mon & Wed 7-8:30pm, Tues & Thurs 6-7:30 pm ( any 3 of the 4 days)

- Focus/format: fundamentals and basics of wrestling while teaching basic technique

- Competitions: wrestlers compete w/ HWC teammates but mostly in individual format

- Local Competition TBA, Youth Regional Tournament is 1/19 & Youth State is TBA

The Middle School HWC team: ** KHSAA Physical Form required for all MS wrestlers . The Blank MS Form can be downloaded at KHSAA Physical.pdf - Google Drive

- Grades 6^th – 8^th grade (4^th& 5^th graders can qualify via coach select)

- Season Length: Oct 28 th - Feb 10^th** preseason practices are going on now!

- Practice Location: will be split between the follow two different locations:

Mon & Wed 7-8:30 pm @ Spatola Wrestling at 90 Alexandria Pike, Ft. Thomas KY 41075

Tues & Thurs 6-8 pm @ the Highlands Fieldhouse at 2400 Memorial Parkway, Ft. Thomas, KY 41075

- Focus/Format: Concentrated focus on fundamentals and drilling basic technique, filling the 16 KY MS weight classes roster: 70, 77, 83, 89, 95, 98, 101, 108, 115, 122, 138, 150, 165, 185, 210, 285 with greater focus on TEAM competitions.

- Competitions: Local Competitions TBA, MS Regional Tournament 1/18, MS State TBA

Youth/Beginner HWC K though 8th grade
